What Are Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries?
Using the air fryer to make sweet potato fries takes a fraction of the cooking time as roasting them in the oven. The hot air circulates the fries and gives them that luxurious crispy texture without deep frying them, making them a healthier alternative if you’re trying to watch your calorie intake!
Air Fryer Sweet Potatoes Ingredients
- Sweet potatoes
- Avocado oil
- Kosher salt
How to Make Sweet Potato Fries in the Air Fryer
First, cut the sweet potatoes into ½-inch thick slices. Now, cut them long ways to make those fries look like thin strips.
Next, grab a large mixing bowl. Toss those sweet potatoes in there, and add the avocado oil and salt. Give it all a good mix, making sure everything gets coated.
Now, let’s transfer the coated fries into the air fryer basket. Make sure they’re in a single layer; you might need to do this in batches, depending on how many fries you have.
Set the air fryer to 375 degrees F and cook for 15 minutes. Remember to flip those fries halfway through and give them a little shake to get them perfectly crispy and golden brown.
Once they’re done, remove them from the air fryer basket, and you’re ready to serve up those delicious sweet potato fries.
Girl Carnivore Expert Recipe Tips
- Play around with various seasonings to get your desired result. Some great options are garlic powder, cayenne pepper, onion powder, black pepper, or whatever other seasonings you like!
- If you want to get super fancy, you can soak your sweet potato slices in cold water before air frying. This helps the skin to crisp up even more! Just make sure to pat dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture before cooking.
- If you want thicker fries, leave the slices at 1/2 inch thick, like sweet potato wedges. They may take longer to cook, but you can leave them thicker if that’s what you prefer. Otherwise, cut them into thin strips!
- Pair with your favorite dipping sauce for even more flavor!
