What are Air Fried Shrimp?
Unlike our garlic butter shrimp which we cook in a skillet over fire or on the range, we’re letting our favorite countertop appliance work its magic for this super simple recipe.
We’re throwing fresh shrimp into the air fryer and letting that hot air create a crunchy outer layer that’s easily peeled off for tender succulent bites. Air frying food requires much less effort than deep-frying and doesn’t come with all the calories from frying oil. Plus, using an air fryer takes a fraction of the time as an oven, grill, or deep fryer, making these Air Fry Shrimp an easy weeknight dinner!
Easy Air Fryer Shrimp Ingredients
- Large Deveined Shrimp – look for the bags that say large, extra large, or even jumbo shrimp.
- Olive Oil – your favorite neutral cooking oil will work. We use avocado oil
- Soy Sauce – alternatively, we use Worcestershire and a pinch of kosher salt
- Honey
- Sriracha
- Garlic – we prefer fresh minced garlic over garlic powder for this recipe
- Black Pepper
- Fresh Parsley – For garnish.
- Limes – For garnish.
How to Make Shrimp in the Air Fryer
This air fryer recipe comes together so fast, making it one of our go to methods for quick shrimp dinners now.
Prep the shrimp
Pour in some olive oil, sriracha, soy sauce, honey, garlic, and pepper into a large bowl. Whisk it all together until the flavors mingle and form a tasty marinade.
Toss the raw shrimp into the bowl and give them a good mix until they’re fully coated with that delectable marinade.
AIR FRY TO PERFECTION
Carefully transfer the marinated shrimp into the air fryer basket in a single layer. Remember, we don’t want to overcrowd it because we want each one to get that golden brown crispy goodness.
Set the air fryer to 350°F, and let those shrimp sizzle for 10-12 minutes. Then, give the basket a shake halfway through cooking to ensure even crispiness.
Serve and Enjoy
Take those perfectly cooked, spicy shrimp out of the air fryer and transfer them to a bowl. Sprinkle some fresh parsley, squeeze some zesty lime juice, and for an extra kick, serve them with a side of spicy mayo sauce, remoulade sauce, or your favorite dipping sauce.
Add some extra napkins and let everyone peel these shrimp and enjoy them. To peel them, simply pinch the legs between your fingers and rotate clockwise around the shrimp. This peels the cooked shell off without a hitch most of the time.
Girl Carnivore Expert Recipe Tips
- If you want an extra kick for the best air fryer shrimp sprinkle some cajun seasoning onto them like with our New Orleans BBQ shrimp.
- Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure the internal temperature of the shrimp reaches at least 145 degrees F.
What to Serve With Crispy Shrimp
Don’t leave those bad boys hanging! Serve those tasty shrimp with some Beef Tallow French Fries or some BBQ Glazed Brussels Sprouts for a quick weeknight meal. Add some sausage and air fryer corn on the cob for a mini seafood boil!
Leftovers & Reheating
If you have leftover shrimp and need to store it, pop it into an airtight container and leave it in the fridge for 1-2 days. Lean seafood can’t be refrigerated for too long, so don’t forget about these babies!
When you’re ready to eat them, we prefer them cold. But you can throw them back into the air fryer at 350 degrees F for 2-3 minutes. Once they’re out of the air fryer, peel them and grab some tortillas and make a batch of Cajun Grilled Shrimp Tacos! Easiest dinner ever!
