Freezer Meals Series  ·  Cook Set 2: Weeknight Staples

Quick dinners shouldn’t require a grocery run every single night. Our Freezer Meals: Weeknight Staples batch recipe plan is built for exactly that, a freezer stocked with the pieces that turn into tacos, burrito bowls, or a plate of rice and beans in the time it takes to microwave dinner. No chopping, no simmering, no last-minute store run.

A green meal prep tray with frozen compartments containing Spanish rice, picadillo, and a Mississippi chicken, surrounded by kitchen utensils and ingredients.

Same system as Cook Set 1: uniform molds, five recipes, two proteins, two starches, one vegetable, so everything stacks flat and mixes freely. The only real trick is filling every mold to the same line every time. That’s what makes the stack work.

This is Cook Set 2 of our GC Freezer Meal Prep System, built to mix and match with Cook Set 1 and stock your freezer so weeknights stop being a scramble.

Five sections show various packaged and plated meals, including rice, beans, meats, and vegetables, arranged neatly on a textured surface with utensils and napkins nearby.

๐Ÿ“Š What This Plan Gets You

~2 hrs Total Kitchen Time
4-6 hrs Freeze Time
30-32 Total Portions

Kitchen time covers active cooking plus cooling and portioning. The Mississippi Chicken runs in a slow cooker, so most of its time is hands-off while you work the stovetop recipes. Mississippi Chicken and Cuban Black Beans set the freeze clock at 6 hours, the longest in this Cook Set.

Cook Set 2 makes 12 protein portions, 12 to 14 starch portions, and 6 vegetable portions. A full dinner is one of each. Spanish Rice’s yield depends on how full you fill the tray, so the starch count is a range rather than a fixed number.

Math assumes one portion (1-cup protein, 1-cup starch, 1-cup vegetable) equals one adult serving, and uses the conservative low end of Spanish Rice’s yield so the math never overpromises.

๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Build Your Plate

Cook Set 2: Build Your Plate
Protein Mississippi Chicken or Cuban Picadillo
+
Starch Spanish Rice or Cuban Black Beans
+
Vegetable Sauteed Peppers and Onions

Any protein cube + any starch cube + any vegetable cube = dinner from frozen in under five minutes. Mix and match by mood.

Cook Set 1: Bold & Saucy is already live, so the mix and match doesn’t stop at Weeknight Staples. Try Cuban Picadillo with Boursin Mashed Potatoes, or Mississippi Chicken with Stick of Butter Rice. Cook Set 3: Comfort Food Classics closes out the system on August 17.

โฑ๏ธ Cook Order

  1. Start the Crockpot Mississippi Chicken first. Into the slow cooker on low, and it’s fully hands-off from there, so get it going before anything else.
  2. Get the Cuban Black Beans simmering next. Same 6-hour freeze clock as the chicken, so it wants an early start too.
  3. Brown the beef and build the sauce for Cuban Picadillo.
  4. Cook the Spanish Rice on the stovetop while the picadillo simmers.
  5. Finish with the Sauteed Peppers and Onions last. The fastest thing in this Cook Set, done in about 15 minutes, and it holds its best texture going into the mold shortly after it’s off the heat.
  6. Cool everything before it goes near a mold. Then portion, chill, and freeze following the timing on each recipe’s post.

๐Ÿ“ฆ Mold Guide

Cook Set 2 keeps it simple. Every recipe here runs on the same 1-cup tray, thirty to thirty-two portions total across all five recipes. One mold size, one shape, nothing to mix and match on the equipment side.
Same molds, same trick as every other Girl Carnivore Cook Set, fill the line and it snaps together like a Lego brick in the freezer. If you’re already running a Souper Cubes tray for soup, this is the same idea pointed at tacos instead

Same trick as always: same shape, same size, every single time. That’s what keeps the freezer stacking flat instead of turning into the usual pile of mismatched containers. If Cook Set 1 already made you a convert, Cook Set 2 doesn’t ask you to change a thing.

Want the full rundown, specific trays and vacuum sealer picks included? The Freezer Meal Prep Equipment Guide has it, mold sizes, sealer picks, and the labeling system, all in one place. For now, any uniform 1-cup mold gets the job done.
